The Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) function at NAMCOR is governed, amongst others, by the following National acts and regulations to ensure compliance. Where national laws are insufficient, international laws are adopted:

Goal Strategy
1 Embedding SHEQ Culture
  • Increase the awareness of all employees and involve them about their responsibility for the health and safety of themselves and others, and for the protection of the environment.
2 Comply with Legal Requirement
  • Ensure that all minimum requirements of the Labour Act, Regulations relating to the health and safety of employees in the workplace and other relevant health and safety and environmental regulations and codes of practice are complied with and implemented.
3 Training of Employees
  • Coordinate, facilitate and present SHEQ training, strengthen the competency of employees in occupational health, safety and environmental aspects through specialised education and training, certification and professional development programs.
4 Consultation and Engagement of Employees
  • Ensure the coordination and facilitation of management-employee interaction through safety representatives and safety committee meetings.
  • Promotion and maintenance of effective SHEQ communication.
5 Safe and Secure Working Environment
  • Establish and maintain appropriate security measures.
  • Take all reasonable steps to prevent or mitigate risks and hazards.
  • Protect the security of all employees, contractors, visitors, assets and installation.
